Mostar

During MB’s recent seasons trip to Bosnia & Herzegovina, he took a day trip to the historic old town of Mostar.

Mostar’s bridge is probably its most famous and loved asset, spanning the Neretva river some 25m below. The river is one of the coldest on the planet and some divers have died from the shock of the freezing water rather than any poor impact.

There is a ‘Diving Club’ at the top of the bridge where one can enrol if one fancies the jump from the bridge, and appropriate instruction and practice is then given, along with life-long membership of the club.

MB witnessed a young local kid dive from the bridge during his visit, and MB is happy to report that he wore a wet suit and swam to shore after hitting the water. MB was was more than a little peed off however for missing the photo opp as the kid dived, MB swearing as he fumbled his camera in his hand on only discovering the imminent dive mere seconds before the leap. Sacre blue!!!

A Mostar Street

The streets of the town are an open-air market and are full of visiting tourists from everywhere and anywhere buying local wares.

The countryside around Mostar is full of interesting scenery and MB and his fellow tour-takers stopped at river canyons, waterfalls and more.
